Summary: A magic hat appears in town that transforms the townspeople into animals until a wizard comes.

2. Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes

Summary: Mom and Dad had a daughter named Chrysanthemum, she went to school and all of the students made fun of her name because it was to long and she was named after a flower.

3. Interrupting Chicken by David Ezra Stein

Summary: Papa is trying to put Little Red Chicken to bed with a bedtime story but Little Red Chicken keeps interrupting.

4. Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White

Summary: This book is about a pig named Wilbur and a spider named Charlotte and a friendship they form because Charlotte is trying to save Wilbur from slaughter by writing the farmer messages in her web.

5. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

Summary: This book is about how Harry Potter discovers that he is a wizard and goes to the school Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy to enhance his powers of being a wizard.

6. Frog and the Toad are Friends by Arnold Lobel

Summary: The frog and toad are good friends and they do things that any pair of friends would do during the day.

7. The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper

Summary: A little train engine needs helping getting the train cars over the steep mountain.

8. Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH by Robert C. O’Brien

Summary: Timothy is Mrs. Frisby’s son who is very sick she normally moves the family before the farmer Mr. Fitzgibbon plows the field.  She is afraid that is she moves her son he will not make it and die.

9. Swimmy by Leo Leonni

Summary: A school of fish are afraid to go out into the ocean because of the dangers that lure there, until a little fish name Swimmy comes along and shows them not to be afraid.

10. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Summary: This book takes place in Panem, the post apocalyptic world which is in North America.  There is the Capital, which is surrounded by twelve districts and a boy and a girl from each districts is selected to play in the hunger games.  The games are played to the death until there is one winner.

11. The Adventures of Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey

Summary: This book is about two kids who are at a football game and play practical jokes on some people it causes their football team to lose the game.  When the principal of the school gets ahold of the two boys he makes them wait on his every need.
