Alphabet/Counting/Color/Concept Books




1. K is for Keystone: A Pennsylvania Alphabet by Kristen Kane
Summary: This alphabet book explains several parts of Pennsylvania to youngsters.


2. On Market Street by Anita and Arnold Lobel
Summary: A girl takes a stroll on Market Street to buy some things for a friend.


3. Alphabet Mystery by: Audrey Wood
Summary: One of the letters in the alphabet goes missing and the other letters in the alphabet go on an 


4. The Dangerous Alphabet by Neil Gaiman
Summary: Two brave children and a gazelle go around from place to place and go through the entire alphabet. 


5. Counting Kisses: a Kiss & Read Book by Karen Katz
Summary: This book is about a fussy girl going to bed and each member of the family gives her kisses on her different body parts.


6. Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
Summary: A little rabbit going to bed says goodnight to everything that is in the room with him.


7. Gathering: A Northwoods Counting Book By Betsy Bowen
Summary: A book that talks about items that need to be gathered before winter comes. It goes through counting the each item that you need.


8. Frogs Jumping: A Counting Book By Alan Brooks
Summary: Counting from 1-12 using animals doing different activities. It repeats counting up after added a new number.


9. Count and See By Tana Hoban
Summary: This book counts for 1-15, then skips to 20 and counts by 10s until 50, then I skips and goes to 100.  This book has the counting number, number word, and dots on the side to show the amount. It shows random pictures with the same number of objects as being counted.



10. ABC Book By C.B. Falls
Summary: An ABC book that uses different animals that has the same beginning letter


11. ABC: A Family Alphabet Book By Bobbie Combs
Summary: The book is about going through the alphabet of what a family does during the day. Same sex parents and didn’t ethnicities.


12. ABC USA By Martin Jarrie
Summary: The book is about going through the alphabet talking about different main aspects about the United States. At the end of the book it has a glossary that goes into more detail about each letter.


13. Sleepy ABC By Margaret Wise Brown
Summary: It is about children going to sleep and going through the alphabet about what they have to do before they go to sleep.


14. Turn-Around, Upside-down Alphabet Book By Lisa Campbell Ernst
Summary: This book goes through the alphabet with a big letter in the middle. Around the outside describes what the letter looks like from different angles.
